State Senate Candidate Sarah Howard Addresses Meekhof/Haveman Controversy

In a statement regarding the recent controversy surrounding State Senator Arlan Meekhof and 90th District State House candidate Geoff Haveman

(Meekhof blasted Haveman for a report that Meekhof himself also turned in late. Gongwer picked up on WMP's reporting and discovered Meekhof was fined over $5,000 for violations. Click here for more.)

Meekhof's opponent in November, lawyer Sarah Howard, said the following:

"I agree that it is vitally important to comply with campaign finance filing rules," Howard said. "The rules are complicated and it's easy to see how a candidate could incur fines for accidental mistakes.

However, I feel fortunate to have a great team that understands and adheres to the rules. As far as Senator Meekhof goes, it would seem he should be very careful before throwing stones (at Geoff Haveman) from a glass house."
