With 2016 approaching and many State Representatives term limited, buzz is beginning over a number of candidates across Michigan.

State Rep. Amanda Price
In Ottawa County, the only State House seat up in 2016 will be Amanda Price's. She represents the 89th District (Grand Haven/Spring Lake area and part of Holland) and currently serves as House Education Committee Chair.

The candidate many people are talking about "behind the scenes" is Ottawa County Commissioner Phil Kuyers.

Kuyers, a dairy farmer and golf course owner, has been a Commissioner for years. He is rumored to be the "chosen one" for State Sen. Meekhof and others around the county like Rep. Bill Huizenga to replace Price.

Kuyers recently voted in favor of restoring the Hager Park sign, a smart move if he hopes to go to Lansing.

Price was elected in 2010 and survived a primary challenge from Matt Wiedenhoeft last August. She lives in Park Township with her husband, Rodger.

Stay tuned.
